Post 249 serves as maintenance workers for Union Cemetery performing jobs such as weeding, cutting grass, resetting stones, digging holes and occasionally assisting in burial services.
The 1st Saturday of the new Year Post 249 holds its annual Crab Feed at the senior Center feeding 250. On the 3rd Saturday Dinners are also held at the Post serving 100. Menu can be found on the calendar.
Post 249 assists in the City of Manteca's Flags over Manteca program, installing U. S. Flags across town on National holidays. Post 249 installs the flags on Union Strret.
Every week on Monday and Wednesday from 10 am til 1 pm, the Post opens its doors for the public to visit and meet with some of the members. It also makes a good time to see the Post for rental needs.
Post 249 sends 1 to 3 High School students from the city High Schools who are in the top of their class to Sacramento learning hands on how to run our State's government. Post 249 also gives a $500 Scholarship to 1 or 2 students after a review process by the Post.
American Legion has been in partnership with the Boys Scouts of America for almost 100 years, and Post 249 in this tradition has both Boys and Girls Scouts sponsored at our Post allowing them to use our Post for meetings and events.
